NBS, the construction technology platform, today announced its acquisition of specification consultancy Schumann International. This expansion allows NBS to further support its specification and manufacturer customers with additional specification writing services, design management & building information modelling (BIM).

Schumann is a leading name in specification consultancy providing expertise to architects, design teams, developers and construction product manufacturers both in the UK and overseas for over 35 years.

The consultancy, to be known as NBS Schumann, will provide a complete specification consultancy service to NBS customers via the NBS Chorus platform.

Commenting on the deal, Russell Haworth, CEO of NBS and Byggfakta Group UK said;

“Construction is becoming more global, technology is evolving, and new legislation is arriving. This complexity means that our customers increasingly require specialist expertise to support their specification process. We’ll be able to provide our customers with additional bandwidth and knowledge as and when they need it. As the Schumann International team has worked closely with NBS for many years, this was a natural development for our partnership and means we can bring immediate value to the specification market.”

He added,

“By bringing Schumann International into the NBS family, we combine game-changing technology with world-class consultancy expertise providing both quality and efficiency benefits to projects and organisations across the global construction industry.”

Mark Schumann, partner at Schumann International, commented;

“High-quality specification is fundamental in managing risk, improving build quality and safety, as well as reducing embodied carbon and managing costs better. As construction becomes more digital and processes evolve, the role of specification becomes ever more important. NBS is known as the leading light in specification technology and content, and we’re really excited to be joining at this time.”

The acquisition further supports NBS in its goal to be the leading specification platform for the global construction industry and adds further scale to the Byggfakta Group’s capabilities given its SCL specification consulting business in Australia.

NBS was acquired by Byggfakta Group, a global construction software company in 2021.
