EA Technology acquires Fundamentals Ltd to accelerate grid-edge consolidation strategy
Tuesday 13 January 2026 – EA Technology, a market leader in deploying intelligent electrical network solutions, has acquired Fundamentals Ltd, the UK’s premier voltage control technology provider. The acquisition is the company’s first move in a broader strategy to consolidate grid-edge technologies globally, supported by long-term growth partner Summa Equity AB.
“Our acquisition of Fundamentals represents a first step in a programme of M&A activity for the business. It is not only a leading Automatic Voltage Control (AVC) technology provider, it comes with deep technical talent, long term expertise and established customer relationships, which are complementary to EA Technology itself.”
Amanda Mesler, Executive Chair at EA Technology
Key investment highlights:
- Leadership: Fundamentals commands significant expertise in automated voltage control relays, specified by all the UK Distribution Network Operators.
- Strong Financials: The UK voltage control market is set to double to £65M by 2030 (13% CAGR), underpinned by long product replacement cycles and robust regulatory support.
- Platform Synergy: Seamless integration of EA Technology’s software with Fundamentals’ hardware unlocks immediate cross-sell opportunities and new revenue streams.
- Scalable Growth: Shared values, geographic proximity, and cultural alignment reduce integration risk and set the stage for international expansion.
This acquisition strengthens the UK’s engineering capability and supply chain, whilst recognising that voltage management is becoming a global issue as we connect more EVs and Solar PV to the grid. The combined organisation has a much stronger ability to support network operators around the world with the right solution.
It also accelerates EA Technology’s ambition to be a software-first, platform-led business, delivering scalable, recurring value across the energy infrastructure space.
