RentMy, a fast growing online rental platform billed as the Airbnb of everything, has just announced its acquisition of Pa-rent, the Edinburgh based rental community. The buy-out comes as part of RentMy’s strategy to expand its reach throughout the UK and ultimately to get the world renting!

Pa-rent, established in 2020, has an already active community of sharers having a positive effect in reducing carbon throughout Edinburgh. Their aim was to create a family of families, sharing assets, from party accessories to kid’s prams.

RentMy, founded by Tom West in 2019, has quickly emerged as a leading player in the peer-to-peer rental space. It’s user-centric platform, Ronseal name and open category structure – allowing you to rent anything, from anyone, anywhere – has proven very popular following their pilot in the UK’s smallest town Manningtree in early 2021, which soon prompted expansion into London and East Anglia.

The acquisition of Pa-rent will allow RentMy to further expand its reach, prompting the growth of the UK’s very own rental revolution! RentMy customers will see a larger range of items available through this merger, whilst Pa-rent members will now be able to rent throughout the UK and not just in Edinburgh.

“We’re really excited to welcome Pa-rent to the RentMy family” says Tom West, Founder & CEO of RentMy. “Pa-rent has a great community of sharers in Edinburgh, and we are pleased to now expand both Edinburgh and RentMy communities to be the UK’s leading rental marketplace. This is a significant step in RentMy’s growth and we look forward to working with the Pa-rent community to continue the change for a better and shared future.”

The acquisition of Pa-rent completed early June 2023. Customers of both companies can continue to use their respective platforms until further notice and the RentMy team are on hand for all Pa-rent and RentMy enquiries. RentMy will post regular updates to social media and send mailouts to all users as we progress.
